Circle of Red

Circle of Red is a society of passionate individuals who are in the fight against heart disease and stroke in women to win.

Circle of Red 2019 member group

In communities throughout the United States, Circle of Red members use their influence, generosity and passion to help increase awareness of cardiovascular disease – the leading cause of death in women – and to inspire women to take charge of their health.

Circle of Red members are leaders in their communities and families. For many members, the fight against heart disease is personal.

As some of our greatest champions of the Go Red for Women movement, our Circle of Red members not only help save lives, but they are the heart of our mission.

President, Holy Cross Hospital & VP of Operations Acute Care Hospitals, Sinai Chicago

I am a proud new Chicago Circle of Red Member!  As a co-chair for this year’s campaign, I wanted to support the work of the AHA in a personal way that I hope will inspire others to do the same. I’m looking forward to connecting with other Circle of Red members nationally and happy that my donation is helping close the gender gap in heart health advancements.

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP

As the daughter of a sudden cardiac arrest survivor, I am incredibly passionate about the mission of Go Red For Women. I am a proud member of the Circle of Red and was honored to serve as the 2020 Go Red For Women chair in Philadelphia. I continue to support the AHA and Go Red because it aligns my passion to help support those in the community who are struggling with poverty and other challenges on top of heart disease.

Given my family history, I try my very best to lead by example and live a healthy lifestyle – Go Red For Women helps me do that. In Philadelphia, we have so many people who need help. Through our community impact efforts, we are creating a domino effect—the healthier our community is, the healthier our children are, and ultimately it impacts the long-term health and growth of the city.

I could still hear the “Happy Birthday” song my daughters sang to me the day before when I had turned the big Five-O as I laid in my hospital room. I had a heart attack…what a way to enter a new decade I thought! Luckily for me, my husband, a cardiologist, was with me at the onset of symptoms and knew exactly what to do. The man who stole my heart 25 years earlier saved my heart that day.

Being a survivor, I felt this desire to help educate women on this disease. I found a home with the Go Red for Women movement and the Circle of Red. Their commitment to educating and uplifting women inspired me. Each member has their connection to the disease that fuels their passion to make a difference. I am grateful to be able to be a part of such an impactful organization and hope to prevent someone from celebrating their birthday as I did mine.

San Diego, California

San Diego Office Marketplace Leader

Managing Director | LCSP/Life Sciences, Deloitte Consulting, LLP

I joined the AHA San Diego Go Red for Women “Circle Of Red” 7 years ago after being an ELT member for GRFW in Orange County, California and personally witnessing the stories of the survivors and women that are directly benefiting from the life-saving research for women. The outreach, exposure and education are critical to making women and everyone aware of the necessary lifestyle changes to ensure heart health. Additionally, early detection and diagnosis saves lives every day – Go Red For Women in San Diego has been an important part of my life the past 5 years!

The Circle of Red not only allowed for me to meaningfully contribute to our efforts, but also provided me with connections to a number of other energetic and fabulous advocates. COR offers networking and further education opportunities for women in our San Diego market which is heavily dominated by the life science and research institutes that are contributing to the cause. My favorite part is being able to witness firsthand how our contributions are making a difference in research, diagnosis and treatment protocols.

Local television personality / mother / social media content creator

I joined the Circle of Red in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic because the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association has never been more important. The economic, social, and financial toll of the pandemic has only underscored the value of prioritizing heart health, particularly for women. As a local television personality and mother, I believe in the power of education and information to transform lives.

I have been honored to emcee and engage in several AHA initiatives, and I always walk away inspired by the dedication of the Circle of Red in arming women with the resources they need to take charge of their cardiovascular health. Heart disease has touched my own family, and I am proud to be a part of the Circle of Red, knowing I am making the maximum impact in the fight to improve cardiovascular health for everyone.
